Shakeela is a popular South Indian actress from India who has appeared in Indian softcore porn movies. Born in Andhra Pradesh, she started out as an actor in B-grade Malayalam, Tamil movies in the early-1990s and only recently has finally been accepted as a star[citation needed] in the Kollywood (Tamil based) and Tollywood (Telugu-based) movies with the release of mainstream Malayalam hit film Kinarathumbikal.
Though initially compared with the 80s sex siren of the South, Silk Smitha, Shakeela's rather bodacious contours managed to carve a unique niche for her in B-grade soft porn. Her first soft porn movie was Playgirls in which she starred as a supporting actress. Shakeela has stated her ambition to star in a movie someday with major actors Rajnikanth or Mohanlal. In 2007, her ambition was fulfilled when she got the chance to share the screen with Mohanlal in "Chotta Mumbai"[citation needed]. She has developed a major cult fan base of her own. She has stated her plans to write an autobiography. The deluge of soft porn or "Shakeela films", made on a shoestring budget of Rs. 20-25 lakhs, has ravaged the star system in the South Indian film industry.
